Brother Yun, also known as ‘The heavenly man’, has spent as much as fourteen years in a Chinese prison because of his faith. There were moments that he asked God to take him away, but there were even more moments that he could powerfully preach the gospel in prison. “One time, I didn’t eat for 47 days. When in the end I did get bread, I was so happy. But the Lord told me: ‘Give your bread to your neighbor, who is about to be executed tomorrow.’
It wasn’t easy to do that, but I decided to obey. Then my neighbor asked: ‘Why are you being so kind to me?’ Then I said: ‘Because the Lord is so kind to you.’ On the same day this man and all the others in the prison cell we were in, received Christ.”
In the video below we speak with brother Yun and his son Isaac. He tells in an impressive way how God has worked and is working in his life. It started when he was sixteen, he says.
“My father had lung cancer and the doctors said: ‘He is about to die in one week.’ My mother told me: ‘Get up, go on your knees and bow before Jesus.’ Then we prayed that God would heal my father. At that moment, my father cried.”
A week later it turned out that his father was completely healed.
“A month before this prayer my brother had died because of hunger, he had no food. My mother had tried to commit suicide, but she heard God say: ‘I love you.’ That’s why she didn’t do it.”
Bible
It is also remarkable that brother Yun has a huge respect for the Bible. He carries it with him all the time. When we ask him about that, he gets very emotional.
“Every time if I talk about the Word of God, I get very emotional. No one had a Bible in my hometown. My mom told me a lot of things about Jesus, but most of it was wrong. Not intentionally, but because she also didn’t have a Bible.
The first time I got my Bible, I started memorizing it. I still memorize the Bible every day. Heaven and earth will pass away, but His Word remains forever.”
