The Chosen is a Biblical-based series that tells the story of Jesus and His disciples. It is estimated that the series has been watched by around 94.8 million people. Warnock: “One of the secrets to the success of the series is the depiction of Christ’s humanity. He dances, He laughs, He tells jokes, He blows raspberries. This season, we’ll see Him play sports.” In the series, the question is asked how it was for Him to be completely God, and thus holy, and completely embrace the mess of humanity at the same time.
Head of original content for the Chosen, Katherine Warnock, tells: “It is wonderful to see that there is not only hunger for faith-based content on the screen, but that The Chosen has a place in the theatrical realm.”
Dallas Jenkins has said before about the season: “One of the things I think is strong about this season is the honesty, the expression of ‘I’m upset, I’m devastated. I’m overwhelmed. I’m not feeling joy.’ That’s a key theme of Season 3. …It’s going to be intense, for sure. The script for this upcoming season has turned out better than we’ve anticipated.”
The Chosen has planned to release seven seasons. The creation of the series is done via crowdfunding and the episodes are free to watch on The Chosen-app.
