The Ukrainian people long for God’s Word. More and more people desire to have a Bible, so the Ukrainian Bible Society is trying to meet that demand.
Anatoliy Rajchinets, who is the General Secretary of the Ukrainian Bible Society, reported the growing demand for Bibles during an online event from the German Bible Society. More and more Ukrainians ask for a Bible, reports CNE News. Rajchinets said that the people of Ukraine “are very open to the Gospel at the moment.”
The Ukrainian Bible Society distributes Bibles all throughout the country “in emergency shelters, bunkers, basements and wherever people were looking for refuge and protection from the war.” The organisation also offers trauma treatments and trains healthcare workers who are specialized in trauma. They are also involved in military pastoral care and hospital services.
Many Ukrainians do not want to be involved with the Russian language. They don’t want to speak or read the language, that also includes the Russian Bible. Because of this, the Ukrainian Bible Society has been working on The New Translation of the Bible into Modern Ukrainian, which is freely available online.
