Healing minister Jean- Luc Trachsel shares a weekly encouragement on his website to bring you hope and encouragement. This week, moving towards Christmas he shared about Jesus, the light of the world.
‘The effort of many to make their homes, nativity scenes or Christmas trees beautiful with lights and other ornaments is, to say the least, remarkable. Light creates a warm atmosphere, it enriches the beauty that is already there – so what better way to make this festive season enjoyable than to use it to the full?
“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”John 8:12 (KJV)
The radiance of heaven
The coming of the Saviour was heralded by light; both by the glorious spiritual reality shining from heaven and by natural manifestations. Matthew 2:1-2 tells us that the wise men saw the light of his ‘star in the east’. Luke 2:8-9 describes how the glory of God ‘shone’ around the shepherds in the field. And if this radiance from heaven was the epicentre of the nativity, its brilliance was described long before Jesus took his first breath (Isaiah 9:2).
Christ’s coming in the manger was to bring light to a blind and lost world locked in the darkness of sin: “the people sitting in darkness have seen a great light” (Matthew 4:16, Isaiah 9:2). Hallelujah! We no longer need to seek the truth of the light, the light that clears our heart condition and reveals our need for a Saviour, that light has come to us. Moreover, the role of light is not only to “reveal” but also to bring life.
Only Jesus Christ is that Light. And in that Light is life and life in abundance. Jesus Christ, the Author of life, is eternal Life. He is Light, He is Life, He is Eternal.Jean- Luc Trachsel
Let us ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten the eyes of our hearts (Ephesians 1:18) so that we may behold the bright face of Christ without shame or fear.
‘Jesus, You are the light of the world and You are also my own Light. Thank You for showing me the way to Your heart. Thank You for taking me from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light through Your work on the cross. You are Life and I love You more than anything. Amen”
Special Advent prayer: T. L. Osborn
Lord Jesus, you went to the cross for me
You carried all my sins, you took all my diseases,
You endured my judgment, you freed me from the enemy, you paid my debt.
Thank you Lord, you rose from the dead to show me that I can rise from the dead,
You live, so I live,
The life of Christ in me gives me divine life.
Thank you Father, you are in me, you work through me,
Teach me your way, guide me on your path,
All that I have belongs to you,
He is Light, He is Life, He is Eternal.Jean-Luc Trachsel
