Darlene Cunningham asks to pray for her husband Loren Cunningham (87), who is the founder of the international missions organization YWAM. Cunningham is currently hospitalized with an infection and at the Facebookpage of YWAM Kona is asked to pray for full recovery. Loren Cunningham is the first missionary who travelled to every nation and also the first to go to every dependent country (238) and visited more than 150 islands and territories.
‘Dear friends, Maybe you’ve heard rumors on the YWAM coconut wireless that Loren Cunningham is in the hospital. It’s true. He was not feeling well – we thought it was just one of many flu variants going around. But when his symptoms continued our campus doctor, Dr. Don Curry (trained at Johns Hopkins), encouraged us to take him to ER. He was admitted to the hospital and is getting excellent care. The medical team suspected some kind of blood infection.
Good news – yesterday (Nov 21st) the culture came back and they now know which specific bacteria to target with IV antibiotics, which they have just started. The source of the infection is still unknown, so they are doing more tests.Having Dr. Curry to lean into is such a blessing, as he helps “interpret” what the hospital is telling us, and is staying engaged with the medical team. Loren is still cracking jokes and telling the staff stories from around the world, while having to take medication to cope with pain. I am trusting our God for the needed breakthrough. We would appreciate your prayers for his speedy and complete recovery!
