Along with his wife Leticia, young evangelist Luca Martini is working as a barista in a missionary café in London, England, in a bohemian region where there are many parties with alcohol and drugs, Guiame.com.br reports.
“Every day we go home with a happy heart with all that we have seen Jesus do. The door that God has opened here is something I never imagined, we are on one of the ‘heaviest’ streets in London”, Luca testified, in a post on Instagram.
The job is a strategy to show God’s love, through attitudes and conversations, to those who need it most. Luca Martini explained that many young people who spend the night at parties drinking go to the café in the morning. The evangelist is well aware of the spiritual need of this audience, as he himself experienced Bohemian life in England during his adolescence. After having a personal encounter with Jesus, Martini was transformed and freed from drug addiction.
“The last time I was here before I met Christ, was in 2010, I was thrown into a taxi, loaded, drunk,” he said. “And that’s the reality of many young people here, a lot of alcohol, a lot of drugs, a lot of craziness, and in the middle of it the Church of Christ, preaching the Gospel in creative ways, inspired by the Spirit!”.
Impacting Customers with the Gospel
According to Luca, many people have been impacted by café evangelism, with God healing and saving lives. Like Murilo, a motorcyclist who limped into the café and said he had been in a motorcycle accident and that his foot was broken, but he couldn’t stop working, despite the pain.
“I said, ‘Bro, let’s pray now! See what Jesus does,’” Luca said. “Suddenly Murilo started crying and hugging me: ‘Jesus healed me, Jesus healed me!’”.
On another occasion, the preacher saw a customer named Keith. Luca took the opportunity and asked if he knew Keith Green’s life story. The evangelist told him about the extraordinary life of the Christian singer and musician, without mentioning that he had converted to Christ. Keith was curious about the musician’s history and said he would look up more about him.
According to Luca, the evangelistic strategy is that the man will get to know Jesus during the research, indirectly. “Every day here, is a different adventure,” he said. “Don’t go out for evangelism, live for evangelism”.
