A declaration defending marriage and sexuality based on Biblical principles has been signed more than 2,700 times, reports Evangeliques.info.
“The Declaration of Supreme Love” stresses that “God designed marriage as an essential part of His plan for human life. This marriage is the lifelong public commitment from a man and a women.”
The declaration was written by Dave Gobbett, who is senior pastor of Highfields Evangelical Church in Cardiff, and by Matthew Roberts, minister of Trinity Presbyterian Church in York. It has already been signed by 1,063 pastors in the UK.
The pastors show their support to the Biblical principles by signing this declaration, but also stress that the Biblical message is one of love. They say: “We are committed to welcoming and loving those who, just like us, have not reached this ideal. We will not discriminate people or treat people different based on perceived gender or sexual identity. All are indeed men and women created to the image of God.” They want to love people, but also teach them what the Bible says about marriage and sexuality.
The declaration has been signed by almost 2,800 people. 1,727 signers don’t have a pastoral function.
