“I have a pretty crazy story”, the British Chantal starts her testimony. “Before I met Jesus I was wild, you could say. I grew up in the nightlife scene, so I found myself working in a nightclub from a young age. This environment became my home. My community was there, my social scene was there, I found all the fun and all the satisfaction that I thought I needed in that environment. So my life tumbled quickly as I spent more time in those places, as I spent significant hours in nightclubs and at parties. You would find me the first one there and the last one to leave. I honestly had zero will power.” She didn’t know Jesus at the time. “I thought God was this external storyteller, who just wanted to preach a message without any impact on us.” But one day everything changes.
“I’d been out at a nightclub and I went back to a party of one of my closest friends in that community and the funny thing that I didn’t know was that he had been going to church. So here I was at this crazy party maybe three days in. … My friend, whose house it was, he started to preach the gospel and at that point in time I’d heard things about Jesus, but something was different about this moment.
I sat with this group of people and all of a sudden these people just stopped their conversations. All of my friends whom I had done this life with in the nightlife scene, they stopped their conversations and they turned and they fixated on this friend who was sharing the gospel about Jesus. I can’t even remember what he was saying in that moment. The only thing I remember was how I felt.
Powerful preaching
I can remember that it was as if all of these light bulbs started going off in my head and slowly but surely these questions that I had, it started to make sense in me. He kept talking and talking. He is an evangelist through and through. He was preaching and going around this chair sharing so powerfully and so boldly. I was shocked by this. He kept talking and then it ended up that he left the room and went into the kitchen. I heard this voice inside of me say: ‘You need to get up and go and speak to him’.”
